Acceptable use
Acceptable Use Policy
What StreamLumo may not be used for, how to report a breach, and what we do when we receive one.
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses StreamLumo, including guests in a session you host.
We keep this policy separate from the Terms so we can keep it current as new kinds of abuse appear. Material changes are notified as described in §12.
Your responsibility#
You are responsible for everything you broadcast, record, upload or store using StreamLumo, and for the conduct of guests in sessions you host. If you are producing on behalf of someone else, you are responsible for their compliance too.
Content you must not broadcast, record or store#
- Content that is illegal where you are, where your audience is, or in India.
- Child sexual abuse material. We report this to the relevant authorities and preserve evidence. There is no warning step and no appeal.
- Intimate or sexual images of a person shared without their consent.
- Content that incites or promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or genocide, or that glorifies mass violence.
- Credible threats of violence, or content that targets a person for harassment, doxxing or intimidation.
- Content that promotes self-harm or suicide.
- Content designed to defraud — including impersonation of a real person or organisation, fake giveaways, and investment or crypto scams.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights. See §4.
- Malware, or content that exploits a security vulnerability in someone's system.
Conduct you must not engage in#
Against other people
- Harassing, threatening, stalking or impersonating anyone.
- Capturing or broadcasting a person without a consent you were required to obtain — see §6.
- Collecting personal data through StreamLumo other than as permitted by law and our Privacy Policy.
Against the service
- Sharing your account, password or licence with anyone else, or using someone else's.
- Circumventing, disabling or interfering with plan limits, entitlement checks, licensing, or the free-tier watermark. Removing, cropping, obscuring or otherwise defeating the watermark on a free plan is a breach of this policy and of the Terms.
- Modifying, repackaging or tampering with the application or its protections. This does not restrict rights you have under an open-source licence — see Terms §10.1.
- Redistributing, reselling or sublicensing StreamLumo, our overlay packs, or any asset we supply.
- Probing, scanning or load-testing our infrastructure without written permission, other than as §8 allows.
- Automated account creation, or evading a suspension by creating a new account.
Against our platform economics
- Reselling, sublicensing or reselling access to our cloud capacity, relay or compute.
- Using the relay or cloud services as a general-purpose CDN, file host, or media distribution service. They are provided to deliver your own live broadcasts, not to serve arbitrary traffic.
- Artificially inflating viewership, engagement or usage, or using bots to do so.
- Abusing free trials, promotional pricing or referral programmes across multiple accounts.
Against third-party platforms
- Using StreamLumo to broadcast to a platform in breach of that platform's terms.
- Using our infrastructure to evade a suspension, ban or restriction imposed on you by a destination platform. This puts our integrations at risk for every other user, and we treat it seriously.
Content rights#
You must hold the rights to everything that appears in your broadcast or recording — including music, footage, images, fonts, game content, logos and artwork.
Streaming copyrighted material you do not have permission to use is your responsibility, not ours, and a rights-holder may act against you directly regardless of what we do. If we receive a valid infringement notice we will act on it, and may remove content or suspend an account in response. Send notices to legal@streamlumo.com.
Repeat infringers have their accounts terminated.
Faces, likeness and synthetic media#
StreamLumo's camera effects operate on your own camera feed, on your own device.
You must not use StreamLumo to:
- create or broadcast a deepfake or any synthetic depiction of a real person presented as genuine;
- swap, transfer or synthesise another person's face, voice or likeness without their express permission; or
- impersonate a real person or organisation in a way likely to deceive.
Satire, parody and clearly-labelled fiction are permitted where they are not deceptive and do not otherwise breach this policy.
Guests, participants and recording consent#
If you host a session with guests, before you capture anyone you must:
- tell them they are being captured, that the session may be recorded, and that their audio and video are processed by our servers to produce the broadcast; and
- obtain any consent required by the law that applies to them — several jurisdictions require the consent of every party to a recording, not just the host.
You must not capture, record or broadcast a person who has asked you not to.
Fair use of "unlimited" features#
Where a plan describes a feature as unlimited, that means unlimited for normal individual or team production use. It does not permit automated, commercial-scale or resale use that imposes a disproportionate load on shared infrastructure.
If your usage is a significant outlier we will contact you first and work out a suitable plan. We will not silently throttle or cut you off.
Security research#
We welcome good-faith security research and will not pursue action against researchers who:
- avoid privacy violations, data destruction, and any interruption to our service;
- use only their own accounts and test data;
- do not access, modify or retain anyone else's data; and
- report what they find to security@streamlumo.com and give us reasonable time to fix it before disclosing.
See our security.txt.
Reporting a problem#
Report abuse, illegal content or a policy breach to legal@streamlumo.com. Copyright and trademark complaints go to legal@streamlumo.com.
Tell us what you saw, where, and when — a link, channel or session identifier helps.
We acknowledge reports as quickly as we can and resolve them within a reasonable time depending on severity. Reports of child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, and imminent risk to life are treated as the highest priority and actioned immediately.
If you are in India and are not satisfied with our handling of a complaint, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer at legal@streamlumo.com.
What we do about breaches#
We take the least severe action that resolves the problem. Depending on severity, history and intent, we may:
- Warn you and ask you to fix it.
- Remove or disable the specific content or feature.
- Suspend part or all of your access.
- Terminate your account.
- Report to law enforcement where the law requires it or where there is risk to life.
Where a breach is capable of being fixed, we will normally warn you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to do so.
We will act immediately, without warning, where the content is illegal, where there is a credible risk to someone's safety, where a third-party platform or the law requires it, or where continuing would cause ongoing harm to others.
Termination for breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund — see Refund Policy §11.
Appeals#
If we act against your account and you think we got it wrong, email legal@streamlumo.com within 30 days. Tell us what happened and why you think the decision was mistaken.
We will review the decision afresh, looking at the evidence again rather than simply confirming what was decided first time, and we will reply as quickly as we can. If we were wrong, we will restore your access and, where you lost paid time, credit it.
We are a small team, so we cannot promise today that a different person will conduct every review. As we grow, appeals will be handled by someone not involved in the original decision, and we will update this policy when that happens.
This does not apply to accounts terminated for child sexual abuse material.
Changes to this policy#
We may update this policy as new kinds of abuse appear. For changes that materially expand what is prohibited, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email and in the application. Changes that clarify existing rules, or that respond to an urgent legal or safety requirement, take effect when posted.
The current version and its effective date are always at /legal/acceptable-use.
